SAN DIEGO –Mesa Distributing Co., Inc. is proud to announce that several members of their distinctive craft beer portfolio claimed gold medals on June 9 at the first-ever Craft Brewers Competition and Festival at the 2007 San Diego County Fair.
Altogether, nearly 100 breweries entered 270 different beers into the competition. A judging panel of 68 certified beer judges and commercial brewers tasted beers in 25 different categories and selected a first, second and third place winner in each class. Among the winners, Mesa Distributing suppliers Alaskan Brewing Company, Ballast Point Brewing Company, Boston Beer Company, and Sierra Nevada Brewing Company each took home a gold medal. They, along with Coronado Brewing Company, New Belgium Brewing Company, Pyramid Brewing and Stone Brewing Company, also took home a number of second and third place medals. The San Diego County Fair is the largest annual event in San Diego County and the sixth largest fair in the United States, drawing more than 1.2 million visitors each year. According to fair organizers, because of the success of the inaugural craft brewing competition, the event will definitely return in 2008.
